I hope you are having a gorgeous summer.
Japan is hot and humid, but I’m finding it more bearable somehow this year. Perhaps having to be outdoors on August 7th, what has felt like the hottest day of the year so far helps me keep it all in perspective! I have also been lucky enough to see two firework displays this summer – Tokyo Bay and Jingu Gaien. They were unbelievably beautiful. Fireworks look like exploding galaxies to me – gorgeous. I get entranced by them. One of the girls in the group I went with commented, “You’re looking at them so seriously!” That was funny and quite an accurate assessment!
Moving on from my love for Japanese fireworks, I wanted to share something I’ve been loving lately – my aromatherapy pot/diffuser.
I bought it from MUJI for about 700 or 800 yen, which is quite a good price in my opinion. I couldn’t find what I was looking for in the 100 yen shops sadly, but MUJI is always good for basics so I’m happy with it. I like that the top bowl part is detachable as well, as that makes everything more convenient.
For the essential oil I went with one from The Body Shop, which perhaps isn’t the first place you’d think of for purchasing that sort of thing.
They were cheaper than oils I have seen in other stores here, which held a bit of sway in my decision, and I do have a point card with them, which also factors in. But none of this would have meant anything if I didn’t like the scents they had, and I fell in love with their green tea and lemon home fragrance oil. It smells so fresh and clean, and I really like it.
One of my favourite smells is yuzu, Japanese citrus, and this is the closest I felt I could get at that time. Yuzu essential oil is not that common as far as I have seen. One day I will buy one I’m sure, but at the moment I’m good with this!
I’d love to hear if you are into aromatherapy or what you use to make your home smell good! I use this now rather than scented candles. Even if they are from the 100 yen shop I feel like they can be bulky, take up room, burn super fast and are just more wasteful as I have to get rid of the glass holder.
Have an amazing day!
