This is the second Japonais flavour that Häagen-Dazs Japan have released to date. I previously reviewed the first Häagen-Dazs Japonais last year which featured green tea ice cream and red bean paste.
Originally, I wasn’t too enthralled by the idea of this second version, but the fact that it has kinako in it won me round in the end. I’m not a big fan of kuromitsu (black honey) but kinako (roasted soybean flour) I can shovel into my mouth like there’s no tomorrow – love the stuff.
The thin film of kuromitsu sauce on the top of the ice cream was subtle enough that I didn’t mind it, and underneath was a layer of vanilla ice cream, infused with kinako powder (which makes it kinako ice cream I suppose) and some gorgeous azuki bean filling at the very bottom.
It really is a gorgeous ice cream and if you get the chance, I really recommend it, provided you like the flavours.
Enjoy your day beautiful people! Love you all to bits!
P.S – There are lots of food porn photos in this post. I would apologise, but somehow I really don’t think you’ll mind!
