Tambourine A/W 2014/2015

Last season, Nozomi Ishiguro and Tambourine had a joint show, which I wrote about here, but this time they were separate. After attending the Nozomi Ishiguro show, I can see why – there’s no way the styles and ambience of the shows could have complemented each other.

I arrived on time, albeit with very wet feet and looking very bedraggled indeed, as it had been pouring all day, and rained well into the night.

All the photographers, journos, and buyers were settled, awaiting the start with anticipation.

When the lights dimmed a murmur passed through the room and then all was still. Cue the upbeat music and the first model walked out at a pace so fast he might have given Usain Bolt a run for his money. He, and all who followed, strode purposefully down the runway as fast as their legs could carry them.

Most of the collection was menswear, but a few female models were thrown into the mix. The male models were very good looking, and the female models too. I quite liked the big furry hoodie things some of the guys were wearing (here’s hoping it was all faux) as they reminded me of Princess Mononoke and the wolf hide she wore in the film (and I am a huge Ghibli fan, so they get brownie points from me for that).

I also really loved the trench coat one of the male models was wearing. It was a beige trench with bright, almost lime green, lapels and underside of the collar – a funky, modern twist on an old classic. Loved it.

It was over quite quickly, in about ten minutes. One young man, possibly a buyer, looked very handsome and dapper in a suit, as he chatted to the person next to him. I remember him vividly since he was dressed all in black and had a red coat, and as soon as the show started, he put sunglasses on! Then when the first part ended, he took them off, only to put them back on when the second part started! What? I was so confused. I also noticed him shaking his head in quite obvious disapproval, possibly disgust – I can only assume he felt the designs were either below par or not what he expected. He was quite a character.

Either way I really enjoyed myself. You can see the photos I took below, although I really recommend clicking here to see the clothes and models properly, as mine are all blurry – I blame the models for not stopping.

Does anyone else feel like this week is going by extra crazily fast?

Hoping you are all well, beautiful people!

Chuuu xoxo
