As soon as I arrived on site for the show, I saw dozens of photographers parked with all their equipment focused the fashion space. I don’t like to call it a runway, since it was basically an exhibition space. Well, it may have been small, but it was certainly buzzing with fashionable people and excitement. The photographers did look rather harried, I must say, and I did feel sorry for them.
This show started a good 30 minutes late – the latest of any show I’d ever had the privilege to attend at that point – but loads of fashionable looking people were there for it, and also perhaps for the free popcorn – Garrett if you please. I was very naughty and grabbed two little packets as I left. There is a Garrett popcorn store that opened in Harajuku last year (or perhaps late 2012), replacing Accessorize – obviously I was gutted. And the insane thing is that no matter what time you go, there is always a queue at least an hour long if you want to buy any. So I definitely wasn’t going to let free popcorn pass me by.
The show was a small one, showcasing several new designers. The models were all beautiful, but a couple of them had the oddest and most awkward walks. There was a group of girls behind me being very vocal in rather strident voices about when they thought something was kawaii, and I did wish they didn’t have to grate so hard on my poor ears, but it was a great experience on the whole. I was well chuffed about it all, and it was really lovely to see the designers come out together with the models sporting their clothes at the end – the camaraderie was touching.
Hope you enjoy the pics (I’m sorry they’re so blurry) and have a gorgeous weekend, darlings!
