Happy Birthday to Kitty… and Me

Sweet little Hello Kitty turns 40 this year! With her popularity rising astronomically over the years and for the foreseeable future, she can only be compared with good wine as something that gets better with age. It’s probably safe to say that she will only stop when she has achieved world domination.

I consider myself lucky to be in Japan at the moment, as I’m sure there will be a number of collections released to celebrate her birthday year, all cuter than the next. In fact, I was quite blissfully unaware of this benchmark at all until I was looking for a sugar fix in my local convenience store. If all this is is a packet of gummy sweets and it’s this cute, (Just look at the gummies! They’re ribbon shaped for goodness’ sake!) I dread to think how irresistibly and insanely adorable everything else is going to be! Now, you may be wondering why on earth I am making this sound like a bad thing. I mean, more kawaii Kitty is all the world wants and needs, right? Well, yes perhaps, but not if you’re me and trying to resist the urge to splurge this year it’s not. I’m going to need nerves and a will of steel, and knowing myself, I’m quite sure I will cave a little and purchase a few bits and bobs. But I won’t regret it! The world needs a whole lot more Kitty love!

Kitty is not the only one with a birthday. I get to share mine with International Women’s Day, and that’s totally fabulous!

Happy International Women’s Day, beautiful readers! And Happy Birthday to me!

Chuuu xoxo
