Sakura Food

I really should have posted about this before. It’s a little bit late in the season now, but better late than never as they say.

Every year around March and April, the shelves are chock-a-block with sakura flavoured food. Cakes, bagels, ice cream, scones, Starbucks lattes and macarons – you name it, you can find it (probably). The Japanese call it sakura jam.

While the concept may sound weird, it’s no different than having lavender flavoured cakes in my opinion.

As for the taste, it can sometimes be delightful, or it can sometimes be an epic fail – it really depends.

I am, however, always willing to try out a new sakura item if I get the chance to. I like to live dangerously on the edge, me. Ha ha.
